morning kindness pt.2
Ok, I admit it; sometimes my effort in finding beauty in everything and anything distorts reality. I find acts of kindness because I seek them. It’s like the theory that if you think positive, positive things will happen to you – not necessarily any more than usual, but because you’re more aware of them and therefore more able to recognize when it happens.
Anyway, I was waiting for the bus again this morning and looked across the street to the Korean mechanic shop and was shocked to find a small, Korean woman rush out of its front door, shooing away the small birds that were pecking at something in the driveway. “Shoo! shoo!” she yelled, flapping her arms around to add an ominous effect. The birds flew away but when it was safe, flew back to their favored spot of asphalt. And again(!), the woman ran out, shooing them away.
I had to laugh at myself. Here I was, saying how beautiful it was to see the husband feed the birds and yet, here was his wife scattering them to the cold wind…like trash.
I guess it depends on the point of view of whoever is observing.
